Teaching

I teach reporting, writing, editing and information gathering courses. 

I hold a Deepe Family Chair in Depth Reporting at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln's College of Journalism and Mass Communications and teach courses in investigative reporting as well as courses in reporting by and for Lincoln's refugee communities. 

I also was a co-instructor of a global reporting program called "Global Eyewitness." 

Specialities include: reporting with empathy, the art of the interview, story structure and solutions and accountability journalism as well as narrative non-fiction storytelling.
